Art is Art

Hello, my name is Holly, i’m twenty years old, a published comic book artist, and writer. i am still very young with plenty to learn, and i am always seeking new methods to create and new things to learn.

i’m sure many would disagree with my decision to start my series before i was “good enough” i am not going to get too involved in that now, but i did make a short video on that particular subject, here. https://youtu.be/utQz5Fnl3B0?si=iRWIJoeAIN4FmBiL

this post is about the subject of “bad art” and why i simply belive there is no such thing as bad art.

many artists believe that in order to be a successful artist, they have to be well known and gaining profit from their art, that if they arn’t continually making high end art pieces, that they arn’t making the cut.

all though these are to an extent somewhat true, i disagree, in my mind to be a successful artist the requirements are very simple, make art, make bad art, make art every day or once a month.

art is art, it is an expression of your soul, something no one else could possibly know.

art is such an individual act of expression, how can someone else tell you how to do it?

we as human beings were created to create, and when we don’t, we feel empty, without purpose, our world becomes grey and dull.

i am in no position to define art. but i believe we all need a creative outlet, it could be writing, speaking, painting, singing, cooking, and so much more, i am personally under the opinion everything is art, the earth is art, the sky, the sea, the feathers of a peacock, everything.

so there is no such thing as bad art, our techniques can improve, and our knowledge of our passion will grow, but if we disregard the joy we felt in the beginning while we made “bad art” we probably never would have gotten where we are now. so i say, enjoy your “bad art” enjoy the act of creating. in a mad world we need our creative outlet to bring a moment of peace and clarity, its written in our soul to create, to be passionate, to be human.

i may have written this in circules, and i am currently writing a whole novel just because i wanted to get better at writing, and as mentioned in the video above i learn far quicker while doing the thing i’m trying to learn.

so i suppose the moral of this story is, no art is bad, art is art. if creating somthing out of macaroni brings you joy, do it.

your art is somthing only you can do, create the art you want to create, stop trying to make the art others want to see and focus on the beauty you see, through whatever creative process you find most freeing.

our god is creative, he made us in his image to create.

thank you for reading my little rant here, i hope you will join me as i grow and learn and find your own creative outlet.

may Yahweh bless you.
